The launch of Elysium comes at a time when demand for more accessible and user-friendly tour options is growing. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to look for a similar solution for a Russian tour operator; however, it was deemed impractical due to high costs. Elysium seems to overcome this hurdle with a cost-effective and accessible approach.
Traditional systems, such as the headphone solutions offered by Sennheiser, have the advantage of immediate readiness without requiring a smartphone, but they feel outdated compared to Elysium’s advanced technology. Freedom from dedicated hardware and reliance on personal smartphones could be a key driver in spreading Elysium across the travel industry.
The shift toward placing smartphones at the center of guided tours is undeniable. More and more audio guide providers are turning to app-based solutions. Elysium fits seamlessly into this trend, offering a platform that is convenient and user-friendly for both travelers and tour guides.
Another advantage of Elysium is the ability to stream content in real time. This contrasts with pre-recorded audio guides, which are often less flexible and cannot adapt to spontaneous events or participant questions.
By combining accessibility, ease of use, and modern technology, Elysium offers an attractive alternative to traditional tour guide systems. It remains to be seen how quickly this technology will gain traction, but indications suggest that smartphone-based systems will play a significant role in the world of guided tours.

Unfortunately, the test at Igeho in Basel failed. For some reason, the journalists couldn’t manage to install the app, forcing the organizer to keep the group close together. The organizer remarked that the solution wasn’t worth the money.
By contrast, the Sennheiser solution worked wonderfully at the ITB in Berlin, where the organizers took great care to collect all the devices afterward.
I am very satisfied with a speaker model from Giecy, which is loud enough to guide a small group. Given that ambient noise is always a factor, I wish Elysium the best of luck in delivering a solid, affordable solution.
